4th of July cupcakes

These were fun. And toxic looking. But that's what made them so fun. Hey, what's better than a little sugar & a lot of red food dye?

The kids loved them. L-O-V-E-D them.

Two things I learned. 7 min frosting is delish & easy to make. Colored sugar absolutely wrecks the texture of cake. Felt like eating cupcakes at the beach.

What ISN'T there to love about minis?

These are a decadent chocolate mini with the cooked fluffy white frosting from my Red Velvet recipe. I just can't get enough of this frosting. It haunts me day and night. I have fantasies about this frosting. I'll spare you the detail though.

My favorite thing to make are cookies. Not the pretty ones like over at Crafted Cookies. That takes talent AND patience. The kind I like are barely sweet and succulent and a little bit ugly, in a yummy kind of way. Perfect for a stolen 5 min break with hot tea.
